A site dedicated to Woodford Dale Public School, a place where many people were fortunate enough to begin their education.
“What impresses me most about Woodford Dale School is the sense of community, the beautiful buildings and playground. The children are often involved with other small schools and the parental involvement is fantastic. I think the teaching is wonderful because there is a lot of individual teaching and the children work together well and encourage each other. We have a great sense of community spirit and active after-school program that is run by the parents and everyone gets involved in reading, canteen, sport and the P&C. My child’s confidence has improved and her English skills and her fitness have all shown great improvement. I would
recommend Woodford Dale Public School to other parents because it’s the best school in every way!”
There are two reasons why Woodford Island is special. First, we lay claim to being the largest inland island in the Southern Hemisphere with a mountain range, and second we have an exceptional and unique small school.
ReplyDeleteThis school is a family school where parents, granparents and friends are encouraged to play an active part in the school community.
Woody School also has a caring team of teachers and ancillary staff dedicated to making the school the safest and friendliest place it can possibly be.
When you drive around the Island you can't help but be impressed by our mountain range, and by the beautiful grounds of Woody School,
Aren't we fortunate that in thses times of stress and uncertainty, there is a school on Woodford Island that gives children the very best free education.

W. D School is unique. A more picturesque site for a school there is not. The river at the front door, the mountain range out the back and cane fields surrounding on both sides, sound good for a song. Loved my 8 years as a teacher at Woody. Bare foot kids arriving with the greatest reasons for being late. Playground duty a pleasure. A wonderful parent group and a fantastic group of students. If there is a teacher's heaven then this is it.
ReplyDeletePlease support Woodford Dale School if you are able to do so. I'm sure you will walk away, as I have, with memories and stories that will last a lifetime.

I went to Woody School from 1977 - 1985 and have very fond memories of those times.
ReplyDeleteThe things I remember most are:
- All the kids from Kinder to Year 6 being together, and having kids of all ages as my friends
- The great school grounds where the whole school played afternoon sports such as cricket, touch-football, softball, hockey (there was so much sports equipment to choose from)
- Feeling recognised for doing good work (because it's a small school you get lots of dedicated time with the teacher)
Many schools these days can't offer these kind of things because of their large student numbers. I think Woody School offers a very special kind of education that should be treasured.
